A simple pierced carrying handle runs through the centre of the top.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe stool is constructed in the traditional manner, with four splayed turned legs passing through the seat and their ends remaining visible on the upper surface. The legs are united by double turned side stretchers, creating a remarkably robust piece of vernacular furniture.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOf particular interest is the hand-incised “VRCC” mark to the underside. Its exact meaning remains unidentified. Its appearance and positioning suggest an historic ownership or property mark rather than a manufacturer's mark.
