19th Century English Pine Farmhouse Dining Table with Drawer

A wonderfully characterful 19th century English farmhouse dining table, constructed in solid pine and retaining a beautifully warm, time-worn surface with remnance of paint on the legs.

Generously proportioned at 180 cm long and 111 cm wide, the table features a substantial plank top with softly rounded edges, supported by a simple pine apron and four square legs. Traditional pegged construction is visible at the leg joints, adding to the honest vernacular character of the piece.

One end incorporates a useful wide drawer fitted with two wooden knobs and internally divided into two compartments – a practical feature typical of working kitchen and farmhouse furniture.

The pine has developed a particularly attractive honey-toned colour through age and use. The surface retains numerous knocks, scratches, marks, old repairs, historic woodworm traces and natural movement between the boards, creating the wonderfully relaxed appearance that makes antique country furniture so appealing.

At 111 cm wide, this is an unusually generous table, providing plenty of space for dining while also making it particularly suitable as a large kitchen or family table.

The table retains extensive surface character including scratches, knocks, dents, marks, staining, historic woodworm traces and wear throughout. There is natural shrinkage and movement between some of the boards forming the tabletop, together with areas of historic repair and filling.

The legs and apron display particularly pronounced age-related wear and old woodworm evidence.

The drawer knobs may be later replacements.
These characteristics form an important part of the table's appearance and have been retained rather than concealed or restored. Please refer closely to the photographs, which form part of the condition description.

As with all antique furniture, minor movement, irregularities and evidence of historic repairs should be expected. Structually sound.
