Clive Fredriksson - Original Contemporary Abstract Figurative Oil on Canvas

An original contemporary portrait painting by Clive Fredriksson, featuring a striking fragmented female face emerging from a vivid cobalt-blue ground.

The composition breaks the portrait into overlapping and distorted forms, with three highly detailed eyes appearing amongst sweeping, expressive passages of paint. Flesh tones, black, white, olive, burgundy and flashes of orange contrast strongly against the saturated blue background, creating an arresting and slightly surreal composition.

Clive combines areas of recognisable figurative detail with much looser, gestural brushwork. The carefully observed eyes act as focal points within the otherwise deconstructed face, while broad visible brushstrokes and areas of layered paint give the surface considerable movement and texture.

Painted directly onto canvas and presented unframed, the work has a strong contemporary presence and can be hung as it is. At 80cm high, it is substantial enough to work as a focal artwork without becoming difficult to place.

The intense cobalt blue makes this an excellent statement piece for an otherwise restrained interior. Hang against a warm limewashed or plaster wall and combine with antique timber, oak, travertine, linen and other natural textures.
