Large 20th Century Arched David & Macaw Painting

A striking arched painting combining the classical figure of Michelangelo’s David with a brightly coloured macaw. Painted in stone-like shades of grey and warm ivory, the figure stands against a rich ochre and golden faux-marble background, with a deep blue painted base grounding the composition.

The macaw’s red, yellow and blue plumage adds a playful contrast to the sculptural figure, giving this substantial decorative artwork an individual character. Visible canvas texture, mottled paintwork and surface wear lend depth to its finish.

Dating provisionally to the late 20th century, probably the 1980s–1990s, the painting is on canvas over an arched wooden support. At 133 cm tall, it makes an impressive focal point in a hallway, living room or thoughtfully layered interior.

Good Original Condition

Vintage condition with visible surface rubbing, scattered marks and areas of wear to the painted finish and edges. The paintwork has a mottled appearance, some of which forms part of the decorative treatment.

The reverse shows discolouration and fraying to the canvas margins, with wear around the fixings. Please refer to the detail photographs, which form part of the condition description.
